Tony has over 37 years combined experience in working for government and in the public policy/government relations field.
Born in Brazil and raised in Africa, Tony came to Ottawa with a degree from Oxford and six years service in the Gatt Secretariat in Geneva.
In 1968, he joined the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce where he worked on a range of international trade and investment policy issues which involved him in the OECD, GATT and the International Wheat Council.
From 1979 to 1985, Tony held senior management positions in bilateral trade policy with respect to the United States, Western Europe and Japan in Industry, Trade, and Commerce and the Department of External Affairs and International Trade.
In 1985, he became Consul-General in Chicago. In 1989 he returned to Ottawa to become Director General, Free Trade Management and the Canadian Chairman of the Free Trade Agreement Working Group on Subsides and Trade Remedies.
