Alex has over 10 years combined experience in the government, industry association and e-strategy consulting fields.
Alex joins Hillwatch having spent several years in the US assisting Washington-based organizations develop and launch e-advocacy initiatives. He specializes in the strategic, tactical and managerial aspects of developing effective grassroots internet-based advocacy initiatives. His work in this area is recognized for its comprehensiveness, ability to create and build engagement and impact. Alex is a key member of our Canadian E-Advocacy team and he leads our North American initiative.
Prior to Hillwatch, Alex was Vice-President and co-founder of Consilium 2K, a consulting group that provided strategic internet consulting, organizational change, information architecture and user interface design services for clients. His work at Consilium 2K was built upon his experience as the senior technology officer for the Canadian Chemical Producers Association. At CCPA, Alex was instrumental in setting and implementing a technology vision that received widespread accolades, including recognition by Microsoft Corporation for the innovative and culturally sensitive use of technology to drive business process improvement.
Alex has broad public sector experience, having help positions with several Canadian federal government departments, including Natural Resources Canada, the Privy Council Office and the Treasury Board Secretariat.
He holds an M.Sc. from the University of Ottawa, is a recipient of awards from the Fonds pour la Formation de Chercheurs et l�Aide a la Recherche (FCAR) and the National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and graduated with a B.Sc., with honors, from McGill university. Alex is also a fellow of Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) Canada, a Rockefeller foundation program.
